Rock Chick Reckoning (Rock Chick, #6)

Rock Chick Reckoning - Kristen Ashley One of the darkest, most heart wrenching stories of all the Hot Bunch guys. With one of the most dramatic circumstances surrounding the reconciliation of Stella and Mace, Rock Chick Reckoning is a page turner from start to finish. “I can’t be the star in your sky when you’re the only star left shining in mine.” Stella Gunn and Kai "Mace" Mason dated about a year before the book starts. They both felt strongly about one another, but they had secrets they weren't ready or willing to share. When it got to the point where they either opened themselves up or walked away, Kai chose to walk away and Stella didn't stop him. Out of fear or hurt. Either way they were both left alone without the one they cared about the most.Presently, a criminal mastermind name Sidney Carter has targeted all the men of Nightingale Investigations and their family. For Mace, this is Stella. After her friend is killed and she is wounded in a shootout Stella is forced to return to Daisy and Marcus's castle with the rest of the group to stay safe and evaluate their situation. Unfortunately, this also means that she must be in close-quarters with the man she still loves and cannot have. When confronted with her past history with Mace by the Rock Chicks, who'd witnessed Stella sing to Mace in a previous book - so they know something is up, she spills all the reasons why she and Mace won't work. And Mace overhears. Now privy to new information Mace now understands some of the things about Stella that made him break off their relationship. However Stella isn't the only one with secrets and whether or not Mace can let her in and deal with the demons of is past will determine the success of their future.Stella, like Ava and Jet has some personal issues that hindered her ability to accept her relationship with Mace fully. Which was annoyinggggg. This guy was straight up trying to tell her the most horrible thing that had ever happened to him and she turns him away because of her own issues. Talk about a selfish bitch. Oh, I wanted to scream at her. Her friends basically have to shake her like a rag doll and force her to understand that yes, she has issues, but his are so much worse that they aren't even in the same stratosphere.“I’m sorry I fought you, Mace,” I whispered. “But now that you’re mine again, I’m never going to let you go.” Once she finally gets over herself and opens up to the possibility of forever with this amazing, sweet, kind-hearted but also badass hunk of Hawaii I finally start to like her. I loved her ability to express her feelings through her music - that was a nice addition to the story. Her moments with Mace on stage were absolutely beautiful. And they had chemistry and their light-hearted banter made me smile.“There it is! Done! And you didn't even have to fuck me.”He stared at me.“But you can still fuck me if you want to,” I offered. He kept staring at me.“Like now. Fucking me now would be good,” I prompted. He kept staring at me.“Hello?...Calling Kai Mason, girlfriend needs a good fucking, right...about...now.”That's when he spoke. And this is what he said.“God, I love you.” There were a few things about the story that felt off for me. She randomly threw in an epilogue like this was the last book of the series. We learn things about the subsequent books that I wish we could have waited until the actual book to learn instead of knowing about it before hand. Maybe she planned this to be the last one? I'm not sure it just felt very out of place for me, not that it wasn't a beautiful part and all. I just would have rather it had come in the last book.Casting: Kai StellaVisit my blog for more reviews and recommendations!Join the Miss Construed Review's Facebook community!
